New York Bans Powdered Alcohol

The newest fad is powdered alcohol. It has gotten alot of attentuion because it is targeted at college age kids and it has the potential to be fatal. The politicans and health advocates who object to it claim that the problem is that kids might injest too much and suffer alcohol poisoning.

The idea of powdered alcohol is nothing new, in fact its been around for decades. However, it has never been marketed to the public this way. There is a fear that the people who make the mixture won't follow the directions properly and will make the concoction too strong.

Additionally, there is the fear that kids can sneak this around much easier than regular alcohol. It is a small packet that can fit in a pocket and be added to bottled water at any time.

There are several states that have already banned these substances, including New York. Groups such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).

Schumer, the congresman from New York, is calling for nation wide legislation against this form of powdered alcohol.

Kale May Help With Cancer Causing Elements

Everyone knows that Kale is good for you. However, you might not have heard about this odd benefit: preventing cadmium from wrecking so much damage.

Cadmium is a dangerous heavy metal that can cause cancer. There are studides that suggest that it is one of the most dangerous heavy metal that is in the food chain.

One benefit to kale is that a study found that when eating kale with foods that were high in cadmium it limits the dangerous side effects of the toxic mineral.

If you want to go the extra step, you should look into adding kale jucies to your diet. This is a perfect way to get the powerful nutrients into your body. Kale is not the most pleasant thing to eat, so juicing eliminates some of the problem.

You can also do something called a smoothie. A smoothie is different than a juice in that the pulp is still present. A juice is going to have little to no pulp.

You should be able to get more kale into a juice, because the fiber is not there. Some people like the idea of smoothies because they want the full benefit of the fiber. It also fills you up and stops you from being hungyr.

You need to look for the best juicer for leafy greens like kale. You don't want to use a regular juicer or try and use a blender. The correct juicer is going to work much better than some juicer that was designed for things like oranges and apples.

Jennifer Lopez Goes Vegan

Jennifer Lopez was in the news recently because she looked great at her latest performance.

At the AMA awards she looked fantastic. People said she looked stunning and the dress she wore was reminiscence of the dress she wore that made the headlines back in 2000. That was the one with the deep plunging neckline.

One of the most surprising things is that she has gone vegan. The way her body looks makes sense.

Lopez was always in fantastic shape and her dedication to keep her amazing body probably prompted her to make the diet change.

Whatever the reason she looks fantastic.

The Daily Mail has bunch of Photos of her at one of her performances.

You can check it out here.

Was Noah a Vegetarian?

The new film Noah has some critics asking about the old Testament guy's diet.

The movie has people wondering about vegetarians, animal rights, and global warming.

Apparently the movie has posited that Noah was an environmentalist, vegan, and concerned about the weather and global warming. That last point is a stretch and not even the literalistic will believe it. However, the argument for vegan or vegetarianism is there in the text.

Aronofsky has gotten alot of flack for politicizing his movie. Some critics have said that the movie is more of a left wing statement, then a movie based on the bible.

The opening is something that particularly annoys religious film goers. Aronofsky has decided to remove the critical first line of Genesis and transform the statement into one that reads very atheistic.

So was Noah a vegetarian? Who knows. Vegetarianism is a more spiritually advanced state of living, so possibly.

Popular Myths about Being a Vegetarian # 1: No Protein

This is one of the most common things I hear from people who are not vegetarians. They believe that it is impossible to get protein from eating just vegetables. This is not true, of course. There are many ways to get protein from plant sources.

For example, some of the strongest animals on the plant are essential vegans: Gorillas, Horses. These animals don't need to eat steak to eat meat.

The truth of the matter is that you can get plenty of protein from green vegetbales. You can also get most of it from legumes. Most of the world eats rice and beans in some form and that is where they get their protein from.

If you look at Asia, Indian, Mexio, these countries have people who subsist on beans, peas, or lentils and rice. This is perfectly acceptable and gives them all the protein they need.

Other sources are foods like quinoa.

Here are some good recipes from All Recipes that focus on the protein found in non-meat recipes.

Shaina Twain Talks About Being A Vegetarian

I didn't know that Shaina Twain was a vegetarian. But apparently she has made a bunch of lists of the most famous, sexiest vegetarians, etc....

It's always good when someone famous comes out and announces that they are a vegetarian.

Apparently what turned her on to the lifestyle was that alot of her friends who were being treated for cancer told her that they were told by their physicians to cut out the meat.

It's nice that doctors are advising people to stop eating meat, it would be better if they were told this before they got sick.

You also have someone like Ringo Star coming out and saying that the vegetarian lifestyle has made him more healthy.

It's good when these big name, healthy people come out and make a statement. More people should become aware of how healthy the lifestyle is.

Good food, healthy food, is now available in most large supermarkets. You can find all types of fruits and vegetables. Plus tofu and other meatless alternatives.

Here where I heard about Shaina and her vegetarian lifestyle. Hope alot of her fans come away with something positive and and try to eat healthier and stop killing animals.
